Product Review: Kiva Key Chain Backpack
by M80 on Jul.29, 2008, under Supplies
That’s right kids. Another product review. I know you are freakin’ excited but please try and contain yourself. This next item relates to that saying. Big things in small packages…or something like that.
The Kiva Key Chain Backpack is a little devil that weighs pretty much nothing and packs away into pretty much nothing. When expanded, it’s a decent size. I picked on up in black for about $7 USD. (continue reading…)
Clothes Review: Columbia Long-Sleeve Shirt
by M80 on Jul.28, 2008, under Clothes
After have a discussion with a friend of mine. I’ve decided to try and keep my blog on track…or mostly anyway. With that in mind and my blog being primarily aimed at travel here is my first review.
To the left you will see some random black man wearing a Columbia Sportswear Silver Ridge Long-Sleeve Shirt. I purchased this shirt yesterday and love it. I know it might be hard to review a shirt after one day but you don’t know me. As of about noon yesterday I’ve spilled water and other liquids (the alcoholic kind) on the shirt. I wore it during the heat of the day as well as in the cool evening. Not to mention during a heated game of Taboo. *side note: I hate hate HATE games like that*
Some folks on the intertubes have said that this shirt was “scratchy” or “itchy”. LIES! LIES! I tell you! (continue reading…)
Life is not that bad…
by M80 on Jul.24, 2008, under Automobiles, Food
The other night I was grillin’ up some burgers. Not just any burgers though. Buffalo burgers. As I sat there with the smell of cherry wood smoking some good buffalo, I couldn’t help but think about a lot of profound things.
Do I have a good job? No. Do I have a job at all? No. I’m not rich or have a LOTS of friends. I’m also getting ready to lose my house due to the prior statements about a job. I thought, what DO I have?
Cascade Lakes =-)
by M80 on Jul.17, 2008, under General, Places, Travel
Not a whole lot new to report over the past few days. Still working on my pictures from Colorado…about 400-500 of them.
I did take a quick trip up to Sparks Lake. I love the Cascade lakes. There are just so many and each one is so beautiful. I only felt that 4 out of the 30 or so shots really are worthy of the web. You can see them here.
I love this lake. I’m hoping to camp there soon. The water there is always really clear and really green. It’s a very unique lake. Not a horrible amount of people but enough to make me frustrated.
Short post I know but I’m tired. Give me a break.
MSI Wind
by M80 on Jul.17, 2008, under Mobile, Technology
Awhile back I pre-ordered a MSI Wind. After a few delays and some bad news about not getting a 6 cell battery and only getting a 3 cell they send me an email saying that they are upgrading my shipping to 2nd day. I gather this news as a good sign that they are close to shipping.
Well turns out that they shipped right in the middle of my little vacation so my little laptop had to sit at my PO Box for about 4 days. Long story short I finally get home and get to unbox my Wind. Which you can see here.
Super 8 - Clean Sheets?
by M80 on Jul.16, 2008, under Places
As stated in a previous post. I just took a trip to Estes Park Colorado. It was a nice little trip. Saw some very cool things and got to see some family I haven’t seen in some time. All around a decent trip. This little trip did not start out so great.
Super 8 Motel. The fantastic place that it is, tried to put us in a smoking room when we booked a NON smoking room. I’m not sure if any of you have stepped foot into a smoking hotel room but it is nothing short of a punch in the face from Mike Tyson.
postcrossing.com - Cool Site =-)
by M80 on Jul.08, 2008, under People
I’m getting ready to go on a little trip to Colorado and I thought it’d be neat to send home a postcard from myself. To do that I needed postage. I needed special postage. Postcard postage stamps. After doing some research in turns out that postcard stamps are only $0.27 for domestic postcards and $0.94 for international. Much better than the $0.42 or what ever it is for regular mail.
In my internet quest for postcard rates, I ran across this site.
This is a really unique site I think. You register and put in your physical address. Then you request an address of someone else to whom you send a postcard from you local area. Then once they get yours, one is sent to you from somewhere in the world.
In an age where email rules and regular mail is forgotten (except to ship a package). This is a nice change of pace. At only a dollar to ship an international postcard I think it might be fun to partake in this long forgotten technology of snail mail.
Gas Prices and Hot Sun
by M80 on Jul.07, 2008, under Automobiles
Before I even start I know what you are thinking. Another person bitching about gas and how horrible it is. I’m not. Honestly it doesn’t bother me at all. I have two rigs. A Toyota pickup for fun and when it snows and a Toyota Tercel for a commuter. My little car gets 40mpg on the Highway and is pretty comfortable. I also paid $400USD for it. I’m not complaining at all…
What I am bitching about is other people. I don’t understand how it is so freaking hard sometimes for people to be nice or thoughtful of other people. Let me set this up for you. (continue reading…)
Olympus 1030 SW - Hardcore Photography
by M80 on Jul.06, 2008, under Cameras
Hardcore photography? Yes. H-core for sure. The Olympus 1030 sw is a small digital camera (pocket cameras) as I call them. This camera is bad to the bone. I’m hard on my equipment. My last pocket cam was a Canon SD300. It did the job but it’s showing its age as I’ve been rough as could be on it.
Awhile back I heard about this camera my buddy had. He said it was shock proof, water proof, freeze proof, and just all around pretty awesome. I had a hard time believing that. So on and so forth the time came for me to get a new camera and I did my research and my homework and came to the conclusion that the 1030 SW is the camera for me. (continue reading…)
